Sofia.

TruSkin vitamin C serum is getting a great deal of attention. Some and most of it is good, but there are also bad opinions. So I decided to do a review of TruSkin Vitamin C and figure out if this serum might be or not be good for your skin.

Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C)

Vitamin C’s popularity in the beauty industry is rapidly growing due to the amazing benefits it has. Even dermatologists are recommending it to their patients. Hey, my dermatologist recommended it to me!

In the case of this serum, its vitamin C comes from Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate. An ingredient that can be less potent than the L-ascorbic acid or other forms of vitamin C, but also, it’s better for many types of skin, as it’s more gentle and stable.

Because this type of vitamin is more stable. You don’t have to worry about the serum losing its potency, and you won’t see this product in an opaque bottle for that reason.

Even if this form of Vitamin C is considered less potent, it still has impressive benefits like:

  •  It combats the UV damage and photoaging like spots, sagging, and wrinkles.
  • It increases collagen production.
  • It evens out the skin by inhibiting an enzyme called tyrosinase that produces melanin.

In short, it leaves you with an amazingly glowing skin which is all Glowing Rush is about.

What is TruSkin Vitamin C Serum?

Truskin Vitamin C Serum is a $20 plant-based & cruelty-free facial serum. It promises to fight the most common signs of aging including firmness, fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots & sunspots. It’s also supposed to provide brightness, and firmness to the skin.

It contains 20% of vitamin C, 5% of Hyaluronic Acid, 1% of vitamin E, and Aloe Vera (among other ingredients).

This Serum is Leaping Bunny certified cruelty-free, its ingredients are plant-based, and it’s 72% organic.

Is TruSkin vitamin C Serum for your skin type?

Because this serum uses Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate as vitamin C. In theory, anyone could use this product as its less abrasive to the skin compared to other forms of vitamin C.

Considering this serum doesn’t have vitamin A, it should be suitable for people with sensitive skin, although, it’s necessary to take into account that because it contains concentrated active plant-based ingredients, it’s a bit of a double-edged sword, on one side it’s what makes the serum amazing and effective, and on the other side, if you have sensitive skin or have skin allergies, it can cause some skin reactions.

If you have sensitive skin or suffer from skin allergies, I’d recommend you to do a patch test 24h- 48h before using it. Maybe even to search for a vitamin C serum that has a less concentrated amount of ingredients. As there have been a few people that have suffered from skin reactions.

This serum is not targeted to a specific age group, but considering this serum targets signs of aging, we can understand it’s for Adults to Elders.

For what I’ve seen. The best results are regarding skin brightening by fighting the damage done by the sun and making the skin tone more even.

Some people have seen some results in reducing aging lines, especially in the forehead and some laugh lines, but for what I’ve seen, most of the best results are for brightening the skin.

How should you use TruSkin vitamin C Serum?

Because this serum doesn’t contain retinol. You can use it in the mornings and/or at night.

If your skin is sensitive or you’ve never used any type of vitamin C product on your face. I’d recommend you use it only once a day, or even on alternate days depending on how your skin is feeling.

It’s important to recognize if your skin is feeling sensitive, because it can cause different skin reactions, like irritating and/or drying your skin, instead of helping it.

  1. Use it after washing your face.
  2. Use it after your toner in case you use one.
  3. Apply 3-5 drops to your hands, and then apply it yo your face and under your eyes.
  4. Let the serum absorb and dry and then put your moisturizer.

If your skin absorbs the serum pretty fast, instead of emptying half a bottle in one use, you can dampen your skin before putting a serum or you could also use a toner first.

My TruSkin vitamin C serum review.

One thing I didn’t talk about, is the benefit of this serum having Aloe Vera. Which has awesome regenerating and healing properties, and alongside vitamin C and E, it can do wonders, and I think this ingredient is what sets this serum apart from the others.

This serum doesn’t have artificial colors nor synthetic stabilizers, so it has natural variations in color from batch to batch so it remains the purest possible.

Pros:

  • Brightens and evens the skin tone
  • Fights dark & sun spots
  • Affordable price
  • Doesn’t have fragrances added.

Cons:

  • Not recommended on allergic skin.
  • Not for sensitive skin.
  • The skin feels sticky after using the serum.

Conclusion

I think that it is an excellent product for its price. This serum brightens the skin and evens out the skin tone. While I don’t like the texture that remains on the skin after using it, it doesn’t stay for long and it is acceptable if you take into account the price.

Some other skin serums have fragrance and perfume added, as well as stabilizers that might make the serum seem a bit more luxurious. In my opinion, it is an advantage as it remains more natural because perfume and fragrances can contain unknown ingredients that can be harmful in the long run.

Because of the type of vitamin C it has, and because it doesn’t have retinol, everyone should be able to use it, including people with sensitive skin but to be honest, I wouldn’t recommend it if you have skin allergies or you have extremely sensitive skin as it has caused some skin reactions to some people.

If you don’t have skin allergies, then I do recommend it. The product will make your skin look brighter, glowing, and fresh. It will reduce your sun and dark spots and your skin will look more even.

My Overal rating is 3.5/5, as it is good, but not good for everyone as it intends to be.
